widget on my Homepage?

Just what I do...
Hi:-)
I'm working on my link building. Link pop now at 20.
I've recently had a few articles published at ezinearticles.com which had a Google PR of 6.
There's an article in SBI's Tips n'Techniques titled "High Traffic Directories That Offer More'. ==> http://sbitips.sitesell.com/high-traffic-directories.html
The article explains how having the widget (that ezinearticles allows you to create) increases your chances of being seen on other websites thereby increasing traffic. Also good for credibility.
I got the code and put it on my Homepage. My one question is this: since my reader can click away from my page ( albeit to my article ) is it still of value for me? It opens up a new tab.
There's also a "badge" you can get that says "Expert Author"...but readers will be whisked away. Worthwile?
What thinkest thou O Wise Ones?
Thanks and best, Dave ==> http://www.free-guitar-lessons-online.com/
ANSWER Hi, Dave, I don't use those a whole lot, but they can be effective. It does help establish you as a credible author. And since they open in a new window, you don't really lose your visitor. When the visitor is finished with Ezine Articles, they close that window and come right back to your site ... a happy circumstance.
Now that I think of it, I did just put up some "credibility" logos. At first I linked them, and had them open in a new window, but I got the same feeling you did, i.e., I just didn't want to lose people so quickly. And there is no monetization associated with their leaving. So I took out the links altogether.
So it is iffy. I don't. Many do. And both work.
