Hi MaryAnn! How fabulous is your site?! :)

I have a question about mine. My website is www.healthy-lifestyle-made-easy.com. I've been at it for about four months and have been enjoying seeing the site come together. It has a RS of 30353 and a VD of 23499 for the keyword "healthy lifestyle". Right within the guidelines, eh?

However, I think this is where we fudged. We have 2 keywords greater than 1000 only have 7 keywords with a VD greater than 100 and RS under 1000. Now, "healthy lifestyle" is obviously about many things-- in fact, almost any keyword on any topic can be worked into it somehow. This is why we originally chose this site concept-- because our expertize is on so many aspects of living healthy and we thought it would be more effective to umbrella it under a broader topic rather than set up many 'tighter niched' sites. However, some of the sub topics, such as "fasting" have numbers that qualify them to be their own sites. It has a VD of 33508 and RS of 35404. So, we're not sure if we can win those pages on our sites.

So as you can see I've got myself very confused! I feel stalled actually. Do you have any advice for me here at this awkward juncture? Should I split the site into more targeted niches or just keep trucking with this one?

Thanks a million in advance! Sorry this email got so long! I'm interested in working with you on possibly getting some new sites started and figuring out some monetization strategies as well.

Best wishes-- Kate

Answer:
Kate, the answer is more complex than what I can respond to in a posting. I have your email on the top of the pile to answer this afternoon, so you will be hearing from me soon.

If you've seen my posts in the Forums, you know that posting is one my favorite hobbies, and I've got -- well -- a lot now. The following post is my personal favorite. It actually was sent to me by my cousin, who has no idea at all that thousands of people have seen it here.

When people ask me whether to dash or not to dash their website, I usually give the example of "www.seniorsexpress.com" vs. "senior-sex-press.com" or "seniors-express.com". But I like these even better:

These are not made up. Check them out yourself!

1. Who Represents is where you can find the name of the agent that represents any celebrity. Their Web site is www.whorepresents.com

2. Experts Exchange is a knowledge base where programmers can exchange advice and views at www.expertsexchange.com. You've GOT to take a look at their favicon (the little picture in the browser bar)!

3. Looking for a pen? Look no further than Pen Island at www.penisland.net

4. Need a therapist? Try Therapist Finder at www.therapistfinder.com

5. The First Cumming Methodist Church Web site changed from cummingfirst.com to cummingfirstmethodist.com . Mmmm. Wonder why.

6. And the designers at Speed of Art await you at their wacky Web site, www.speedofart.com

Cheers!
