I'm confused... again!
I used brainstomer and got the keywords that work and go on my MKL. I look at supply and demand and choose based on low supply and high demand.
Now I think what will happen if I use adsense on this keyword page? So I go to the Google adwords tool to see the CPC on the word.
Then I go to the traffic tool with the keyword and find that it gets little to no traffic.
So what started off looking great in MKL now looks like a dud when it comes time to monetize that page.
I have to be missing something here, because this makes the supply/demand issue somewhat misleading.
As I said I'm confused... help please
Answer
Henry, the more you look, the more muddled you will get. That's just one of the Rules of the Web. I wish we could get agreement amongst all the various tools, but it rarely happens. The discrepancy happens because they simply count differently, they measure different things. It is not that one is right and one is wrong. They are just different.
There are several ways to resolve your dilemma.
(1) Follow your gut. That is what you are going to do eventually anyway, so think about starting here. Look at those sets of numbers. Which set really looks most logical to you?
(2) Choose one set of numbers and follow it. (I recommend SBI numbers in this case.)
(3) Sort of mesh the numbers together and choose the best of the best to use.
(4) Scratch the whole idea and start over.
If you truly feel uncertain about these keyword numbers, your best bet may be #4. But do look at #2. SBI uses unique proprietary technology to establish its MKL listings. Most people do pretty well sticking with those numbers. If you want to ensure that there is monetization potential, post in the Planning Your Monetization forum, and we will help you identify ways to monetize your site. There are lots of ways to monetize beside AdSense, so maybe we need to look at some of those.
Don't despair yet. There is usually a way to fix it!
