There are so many sales pitches for things that are NOT legitimate online money making options that it really curdles my blood.  And messes with my cheery nature.

And there are just so many GREAT and LEGITIMATE ways to make money with your online business.  There is just no need for those sleazy Get Rich Quick sales pitches.

It is Liza's song.  And she does a great job of it.

But it is not my song.  Not even close.

I guess that is why it is so ironical that I was the moderator for the "Planning Your Monetization" forum in SBI for five years. Those years, however, gave me a strong appreciation for the monetization potential in SBI.  And the longer I am with SBI, the stronger that appreciation becomes.

The Fourth Cornerstone In Learning How To Build A Website

There are three cornerstones that come before this one:

CONTENT.  Build a site that people will like, one that will attract traffic.

TRAFFIC.  Promote your site so that Traffic will build.

PRE-SELLING.  Create trust with your visitors, turning them into Customers.

And now ... and ONLY now ... comes MONETIZATION. 

Whoever starts at the wrong end, builds a site at his own peril.  Yes, monetization planning is part of The Important Things To Do in planning a site, but by the time you are building that site, focus first on CONTENT, then on TRAFFIC, then .... you get the idea.

Monetizing Your Site Is The Easy Part

This sounds so unreal, and it is so, so true. 

 There are lots of ways to monetize, with lots of variations on the theme.  Let's take a look at a few legitimate online money making options for your site.

ADSENSE ADS.  You see the "Google ads" on this site.  Most people start here.  The ads are easy to use, and it is a good way to begin making money online.  Nearly any site can use Google ads.

AFFILIATE SALES.  Another company makes products that you would like to sell on your site.  So you sell them, and the affiliate company handles the whole sale, taking the money and shipping the product.  You earn a commission on each sale.  See Amazon Advertising  for examples of affiliate sales.

SELLING YOUR OWN PRODUCTS.  This is a good option for creative people and crafts people of all kinds.  Take pictures of your products and sell them online.

EBOOKS FROM CLICKBANK.  ClickBank has a slew of ebooks that were written by someone else.  You can feature these on your site and get a commission for each sale.

EBOOKS THAT YOU WRITE.  Use EJunkie or ClickBank to host your sales process.  The good news is that you keep 100% of the sale.  Sometimes you can even get affiliates to sell your ebooks, then you would pay them the commission.

MEMBERSHIP SITES.  If your site is a top notch one, one that provides unique and valuable information, then create a site that others can join.  The membership fee might be $5 a month or $100 a month, depending on your topic.

SERVICES.  Are you a business advisor, a tax accountant, a personal health provider?  You are selling your services, and that is a very legitimate online money making idea.

ECOMMERCE.  Reach around the world with your online store, using your brick and mortar store as the starting point.

That's why I say that monetizing is the easy part.  Once you've got a great CONTENT based site, with TRAFFIC that is PRE-SOLD already, well, the "sales" part becomes pretty easy.
