"What Is The Google Adsense Revenue Thingy All About?"

 

Simply put, Google Adsense revenue is a great way for about 95% of all sites to generate income, especially in the beginning stages.

Those ads that your eyes just breezed past are supplied by Adsense, which is owned by Google.  There are some things you should know about monetizing with Adsense.

1.  Adsense will have a real person approve your first site

This is true.  A real, live human person will review your first site before you have approval to use AdSense ads.  Probably 99.9% of SBI sites pass the review, so as long as you follow the Action Guide, you should be fine.

Subsequent sites are not reviewed prior to approval.  They assume that by then you know what you are doing.

2.  If you don't follow AdSense rules, you can lose ALL RIGHTS to using their ads.

True.  If you mess up one site, you can lose the right to use ads on ALL of your sites.  So be careful.  Review the material in the Action Guide and in SBI Tips and Techniques to make sure you are doing ok.

I hear tell, and I don't know how true it is, but Google really takes these things pretty seriously.  Why, I had one friend who had to sell his whole site to someone else because AdSense had cut him off.  Fortunately, he sold it to his corporation, so he still got some of the income.  (I do not, however, recommend that you try this.  Google can get truly violent.)
 

Truly, getting and keeping Google Adsense revenue is not difficult.  Thousands of sites earn many thousands of dollars each and every day.  It is an excellent way for most sites to generate income.

3.  A Few Do's and Don'ts Of Google Adsense Revenue

AdSense rules change from time to time.  Mostly Google is looking for honesty in advertising.  A few of the do's and don'ts:

• Do use colors and ad placements that suit your site.  You have lots and lots of choices.
• Do use Google's recommended sizes of you can.  They just generate higher income.
• Don't put too many ads on a page (3 blocks is enough), or use deceptive or misleading images or headline text to draw attention to the ads.
• And NEVER, NEVER, NEVER click on ads on your own site.

When in doubt, ask about it in the forums.  Someone will know.

What's The Difference Between AdWords and AdSense?

The two words sound very similar and are therefore confusing.  One generates income, and the other costs money.

The One That Generates Income:  What you see up above is a block of AdSense advertising.  I am a publisher (you will be a publisher, too, when you have your website).  Google puts those ads on my site because I put some code there asking them to do so.  Every time someone click on an ad, I make some money.  That is Google Adsense Revenue.

The One That Costs Money:  AdWORDS are the other guys.  Other websites and companies create little classified ads (like the ones you see above).  They PAY Google to place those ads on websites.  Those are AdWORDS.

Google matches up websites with ads and makes the whole thing happen.

Most webmaster create AdWORDS, ie., they PAY to place ads on other sites.  It helps them generate traffic and sales.

SBI sites don't pay for traffic.  We get traffic other other ways.  We use AdSense as a way of generating income on our sites.  And, because we don't have to pay for the traffic we get, it costs of many thousands of dollars less than other sites to become very successful.  (Now, don't you just feel smug!)

So How Much Can You Make With Google Adsense Revenue?

Maybe nothing.  Maybe thousands of dollars a month.  Sorry to sound so evasive, but there are lots of variables.

As with any revenue stream, a lot defends on Traffic.  A site generating 10-20 visitors a day isn't likely to make much AdSense income.  A site generating 1,000 - 2,000 visitors a day will make a whole lot more.

While there are no hard and fast rules, generally speaking, any site getting a click through rate of 10% or more is doing really well.  That means that 10% of every visitor who reads that page clicks on an ad.

Your earnings also depend on your topic.  Some topics just pay more than others.  A site about poodles will likely have a harder time making money than a site about buying stocks and bonds.  Think about who will be placing ads.  On the poodle site, perhaps dog food companies or dog toy makers.  These are not huge conglomerate types of companies.  On the stocks and bonds site, all kinds of investment companies will place ads, and they have more money to spend on advertising.
