Amazon Advertising now includes vidoes, toys, games, jewelry,
cosmetics, electronics -- well, just about anything you can think of.
The Turtle Carousel
Click on the arrows in the right hand corner
to move the items around the carousel. Move your mouse over each item to
learn more, and click on it to go to the product page.
For a long time Amazon gave you a little box that you could use to advertise
books. Then it set up a way you could build a page -- with books.
Well, Amazon advertising has come a long way.
The Tortoise
Slideshow
For its Associates (not "Affiliates'), Amazon now offers the Carousel and the
Slideshow. I really think they are pretty cool.
Note: If you are using BlockBuilder, be sure to choose the Carousel
that is 500 pixels. You only have 525 pixels in the "text" column.
If you put in anything bigger, it will either push the sides of the column out,
or it won't show at all.
The slideshow that I picked is 300 pixels across. There are bigger ones
that will fit as well.
The carousel above was from a search on "turtles", and the
slideshow was from a search on "tortoise". I also tried searches
on "San Francisco", "princess" and some others. All of the product
searches came back with 50 products. You can choose to put 6 to 10
products in each carousel or slideshow. You choose the topics -- and you can mix topics
in a carousel. You choose how many items to feature. You change it
any time you want.
Also, I was quite surprised at the variety of product. There are books,
of course. And videos. And posters. But there are also shoes,
cosmetics, sporting goods, and a whole slew of other stuff. Most of us
would be pretty hard pressed to come up with something that isn't in the Amazon
site.
Amazon's commissions may or may not be what you could earn as an individual
affiliate. But it's a good starting point for beginners, and lets you try
out all sorts of products. When you discover that something is working
well, then investigate become a direct affiliate of that company.
